Why do this ride: Tahsis, birthplace of BC to Gold River, part of the Tree to Sea bikepacking loop. Upana Caves.

Difficulty: Lots of up and down but technically straightforward.

Other notes:  I took a local taxi service from Gold River to Thasis and then rode back to make this ride easier than an out-and-back would have been. The early part of ride has more paved than map shows; apparently paving is incrementally getting added to this stretch of road to improve access to Thasis and foster tourism.
