Elk River Road
Start location: Campbell River
Ride Type: Out and Back
Date Ridden: April 2025
Distance: 42 km
Elevation: 361m
Surface: Gravel
Why do this ride: Lake scenery with no one around on Elk River Main (at least on a weekend).
Difficulty: Not a very hard ride except for the initial decommissioned bridge crossing and the obstacles created in the approach. Towards the end the FSR devolves into a heavily decommissioned sector before hitting Tlools Creek where bridge is gone.
Other notes: I initially wanted to do this as a loop around Upper Campbell Lake but creek was flowing too high (pictured); it can probably be traversed under lower flow conditions. Perhaps better as an out and back as this way the highway return was avoided.
